On November 6, 2024, in Seoul, within the framework of working visit, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodiq Imomi and the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon.

During the meeting, S.Imomi handed over to Ban Ki-moon the original Instrument of accession of Tajikistan to the Agreement on the establishment of the Global Green Growth Institute, and the parties noted the importance of joining of the Republic of Tajikistan to the GGGI to further expand cooperation in the field of environmental protection and climate change.

During the meeting two sides discussed issues of expanding cooperation between Tajikistan and the GGGI in the context of renewable energy and sustainable development.

The GGGI leadership was also invited to participate in the High-Level International Conference on Glacier’s Preservation, which, according to the UN General Assembly resolution, is scheduled for May 2025 in Dushanbe.

Ban Ki-moon recalled his long-standing friendly relations with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon and conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the Нead of the Tajik state.

It is worth mentioning that the event was attended by Ambassadors of Central Asian countries, representatives of Korean state authorities, media of the country of residence, students and compatriots.

Within the framework, Tajik-Korea Youth Forum and the presentation of the book “The World of Tajik Embroidery”, which was published with the initiative of the Embassy, ​​were held.

At the Forum, Tajik students made presention on the strategic goals and global initiatives of Tajikistan.

On April 23, 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Korea Salohiddin Kirom met with the Asian Water Council Secretary General/Director General of K-Water Global Corporation Department Yongdeok Cho.

During the meeting the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation on water related issues, particularly participation of K-water representatives in the 3rd High-Level International Conference on International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, to be held on June 10-13, 2024 in Dushanbe.

On April 19, 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Korea S. Kirom met with the President of Yeungnam University in Korea, Choi Oе-chool.

On November 6, 2023, a festive event in honor of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in the city of Incheon with the participation of compatriots living in the region.

 

 

 

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Korea Salohiddin Kirom in his congratulatory remarks, emphasized the importance of the Constitution as an epochal document in the development of the new statehood of Tajikistan and noted that thanks to the efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, the country is progressively developing and holds a significant place in the international arena.

On November 1st, 2023, the 16th Session of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Forum “Central Asia – the Republic of Korea” was held in Ashgabat city, which was attended by the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

 

 

 

 

During his speech, the head of the Tajik delegation shared the country’s vision of expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation, strengthening cooperation and sustainable development within this effective format.

 

 

 

 

On the sidelines of the Cooperation Forum, six thematic sessions were held in the areas of transport and logistics, health and medicine, environmental protection and climate change, information and communication technologies, science and education, as well as tourism in in-person and virtual formats.

The meeting participants exchanged views on important issues on the agenda, the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.

 

 

 

 

As a result of the meeting, the Joint Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Work Plan of the Secretariat of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum for 2024 were adopted.
