The Kazakh President stated that the re-election to such a high office demonstrates the unwavering trust and support of Indian citizens for the visionary policies of Narendra Modi.

– I am convinced that India will continue its impressive path as one of the fastest growing economies and attain new accomplishments under your strong leadership. Kazakhstan highly appreciates its long-standing strategic partnership with India that rests on strong bonds of friendship, shared values, and friendly ties between our people, – the telegram reads.

As President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized, Kazakh-American cooperation covers a wide range of areas, including security, sustainable development, the climate agenda and humanitarian ties.

 

 

 

Describing economic interaction as the driving force of bilateral relations, the Head of State noted the need to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation, including within the framework of the Council on Investment Attraction.

 

 

 

The participants of the meeting discussed opportunities for expanding contacts in such areas as trade, transport, logistics, green energy, ecology, and mining.

On December 1, 2023, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilkhom Abdurahmon and the head of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vusal Huseynov.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of migration.

The parties also emphasized their readiness to develop bilateral cooperation in the field of migration, including training and exchange of experience, exchange of statistical data and participation in sectoral exercises.

 

 

 

 

Then the Ambassador acquainted with the activities of the Regional Migration Training Center under the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan.

On 18 October, 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received copy of Credentials of the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan Mr. Arthur van Diesen.

 

 

 

 

After the ceremony, the parties also discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNICEF, including the process of implementation of the Country Program Document for the 2023 – 2026 period and the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

Head of State receives credentials from foreign ambassadors

The ceremony of presenting credentials to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev by Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of fourteen states took place at the “Akorda” residence.

 

 

 

 

The credentials were presented by Salman Bal, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, Egidijus Navikas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, Pavol Šepel’ák, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Nagendra Prasad, Ambassador of the Republic of India, Hamza Mahmoud Yousef Al-Omari, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Nicolaas Jacob Schermers, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, George George Panamthundil, Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See, Darja Bavdaž Kuret, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, Moses Kawaaluuko Kizige, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda, Lesley Akyaa Opoku-Ware, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana, Daniel Ruben Castillos Gomez, Ambassador of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, Adem Mohamed Mahmud, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Jakob Henningsen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, Milan Raj Tuladhar, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

 

 

 

Addressing the diplomats, the Head of State stressed that Kazakhstan is in favour of building a just world order based on the goals and principles of the UN Charter.

– Kazakhstan is conducting a peaceful foreign policy aimed at ensuring the security and sustainable development of the country. We are interested in expanding and strengthening mutually beneficial and friendly relations with your countries, – said the President.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also noted that Kazakhstan has good prospects for economic development and is ready to make every effort to become a significant part of the world economy.

– Here in Central Asia, our economy is the largest, but we are not complacent, we want to move forward and we want to make our economy more resilient and more robust, – assured Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

 

 

 

 

At the end of the ceremony, the President congratulated the ambassadors on the official start of their diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan and wished them success in further strengthening bilateral cooperation. The Head of State attended the ceremony to mark the 30-th anniversary of Shell in Kazakhstan

In his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the global energy group Shell was one of the first foreign investors in the country’s oil and gas industry. As the President highlighted, the 30th anniversary of Shell’s operations in Kazakhstan is an important milestone in the history of the industry.

 

 

“In the midst of difficult years, Shell brought substantial investments and also introduced new technologies, scientific advancements, and invaluable management experience to our economy. We sincerely appreciate these contributions. Over the past 30 years, Shell has invested more than 18 billion dollars in our economy, solidifying its position as one of the largest foreign investors in Kazakhstan,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

 

As he further noted, Shell, together with other partners, is actively participating in delivering of major oil and gas projects in our country. The company is the operator of Karachaganak, one of the largest oil and gas condensate fields in the world. Timely implementation of the phases of the Karachaganak Expansion Project contributes to maintaining liquid hydrocarbon production at the level of 10-11 million tons.

 

 

 

“The coordinated work of Shell and other shareholders made it possible to launch the Kashagan Project. Today, the North Caspian project provides almost 20% of the country’s oil production, playing an important role in the global energy market. In addition to the production of hydrocarbons, the creation of infrastructure for their transportation to world markets is of great importance. The first such successful project was the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Leading oil companies such as Chevron, ENI, Shell, Lukoil and a number of others took part in its implementation,” the President indicated.

 

 

 

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the presence of transnational oil and gas corporations in Kazakhstan is a vivid indication of our attractive investment climate, particularly in terms of protecting investors’ rights and interests.

The company’s social responsibility was distinctly highlighted. In its projects, Shell pays special attention to the involvement of local specialists. Today, more than 95% of employees working at the Karachaganak and Kashagan projects are citizens of Kazakhstan. Shell also actively engages young people in addressing environmental issues through projects such as Solar Energy for Schools, Shell Eco-Marathon and others.

 

 

 

The President reminded that in his recent State of the Nation Address he paid special attention to the development of small and medium-sized businesses. In his opinion, Shell is making a significant contribution to this task through programs supporting young entrepreneurs and women from socially vulnerable categories. The Company provides them with consulting services and start-up capital to launch a business. The Head of State pointed out the potential for expanding the Shell’s activities in this area.

“At a meeting with domestic entrepreneurs, I ordered to promote the relocation of project design offices to Kazakhstan with the mandatory involvement of local engineers and companies. It is important to open access for our manufacturers to implement major oil and gas projects in order to increase their local content. I am confident that Shell’s active and constructive stance will make a significant contribution to the diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy and further improve the company’s image,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

 

 

 

In conclusion, the Head of State expressed sincere gratitude to the company for its valuable contribution to the country’s prosperity and sustainable development, noting separately that Shell has become one of Kazakhstan’s strategic partners in the energy industry. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded a number of the company’s employees with state awards for special merits in the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry.

 

 

 

Deputy Chair Kuralbek Keljanov was awarded with the “Barys” Order of Third Class; Diyas Jubandykov, Manager for Government Relations – with the “Kurmet” Order. On the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö.

 

 

 

During the talks, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Finland is the largest trade partner of Kazakhstan and holds leading positions in terms of investment among the countries of Northern Europe. The presence of huge potential for further strengthening of political, trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation was emphasized.

 

 

 

In turn, Sauli Niinistö said that Kazakhstan is a very important partner of Finland and expressed readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation on the whole range of bilateral agenda.

They also exchanged views on topical issues of international politics, including in the context of UN reform.

 

 

 

Head of State invited the President of Finland to take part in the next Astana International Forum as one of the main speakers of the event.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Head of State stressed that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to strengthening bilateral relations with Iran as a strategic partner in the Caspian Sea region.

 

 

 

During the talks, the leaders of the two states discussed the current state and prospects for further development of Kazakh-Iranian cooperation. The sides noted the importance of adopting a set of measures to increase cooperation in the spheres of transport, logistics and trade.

– We have reached very useful agreements on the visa procedure, as well as on other areas related to the interaction between business and citizens. I would like to say that Kazakhstan is absolutely committed to strengthening relations with Iran. Both Governments should take appropriate measures to implement our agreements previously reached in Tehran. I look forward to seeing you again in Kazakhstan, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Head of State noted the positive interaction between the two countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and other international structures.

 

 

 

In turn, President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi said that Kazakhstan and Iran have exemplary relations based on strong ties of friendship and mutual support.

– Iran and Kazakhstan enjoy excellent bilateral relations, having this level of partnership makes us take further steps to develop our relations, especially in the field of trade. We are serious about expanding relations with brotherly Kazakhstan. Our countries have great potential and utilising these opportunities will serve us well, – Ebrahim Raisi said.

 

 

 

The leaders emphasized the great potential in strengthening transit and transport links. In particular, they noted the great potential of using the railway Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran as a key route for the development of mutual trade and transport across the Caspian Sea. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of the construction of a Kazakh trade terminal in the port of Bandar Abbas.

The leaders agreed to increase communication between their governments to accomplish their economic goals.

The Head of State receives President and CEO of Wabtec Rafael Santana

The prospects of cooperation with Wabtec in the framework of the reconstruction of the railway industry in Kazakhstan were discussed at the meeting.

 

 

 

Rafael Santana informed the Head of State about the investment projects underway to launch in Kazakhstan the production of locomotives using hydrogen technologies and their components, the creation of an engineering center and technology transfer.

 

 

 

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the company’s plans to invest about $1 billion in the transport and logistics industry, noting that this will contribute to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and will become the basis for other infrastructure projects.

Within the framework of the President’s visit to the USA, a framework agreement on strategic cooperation was signed between the JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” and Wabtec.

 

 

 

 

Wabtec (Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation) is a Fortune 500 company and one of the world’s leaders in transportation and logistics.
