On October 23, 2023, on the sidelines of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asia and the European Union countries, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of cooperation between the two parties including the joining of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Generalised Scheme of Preferences of the EU (GSP+) and the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

 

 

 

During the discussion of regional cooperation, Sirojiddin Muhriddin pointed to the hydropower potential of Tajikistan, raw materials and human resources and asked to take into account the above factors while implementing the Global Gateway initiative of the European Union.

On 1 June 2023, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Farhod Salim met with the Head of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mission in the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Mulugeta Zewdie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on important aspects of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNHCR, particularly assistance to refugees and other issues of mutual interest.

 

 

 

 

Due to the end of M. Zewdie’s mission as the Head of the UNHCR Office in Tajikistan, the Deputy Minister expressed gratitude for the work carried out and wished him success.
